Holden Carver

Holden Carver is a Toronto-based furniture maker that prides itself in high-quality custom furniture that is affordable.

The design challenge was to create a modern/premium look and feel, with a clean aesthetic and bold infusion of color. We used red as the primary brand color to communicate that this is a Canadian company.

The primary font was a serif to match the brand logo. This type of font is usually associated with premium design and quality.

Bold edge-to-edge images were used to immerse the user into the page and get a sense for the craftmanship of each furniture item.

Holder Carver is an online retailer only. The value propositions of home trial and warranty had to be present in the footer at all times to reduce purchase anxiety.

On the collections page, the interface was purposefully minimal so that the furniture items came in the spotlight. A two-column grid with image, title, and price were used to generate interest and persuade the user to customize the item.

Without a retail presence, the shopper has to rely on renderings and various angles to make a purchase decision. Here we used 3D renderings and put the user in full control of viewing each invidivual item.

Customization options were 1-click away, so that shoppers could easily create the perfect sofa.

Actual material colors and patterns were used in the options thumbnails.

Illustrations were used to illustrate the type of sofa options, number of seats, and relative sizes.
